What the remake actually is

Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake rebuilds the 1999 turn-based classic in Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine for a 2027 launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. Gameplay stays close to the original loop of adventure-map exploration, town building, and hex combat, while the campaign saga from Restoration of Erathia plus both expansions ships on day one. Start with the beginner guide, then read how to play, compare factions, and check the 2027 release window.

Quick start

A short path from wishlist to first campaign victory.

  1. 1

Wishlist the remake, not a lookalike

Add Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake on Steam, the Ubisoft Store, or Epic, and keep it separate from the 1999 Complete Edition listing and from Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era. Platform notes live on the release date page.

  2. 2

    Learn the three-layer loop

Every session still rotates through the adventure map, town construction, and hex battles. The how to play guide explains movement points, weekly creature growth, and why you never leave a town idle.

  3. 3

Pick a faction with a plan

All nine towns return on day one. Read the faction overview for identities, then use the faction tier list if you want a stronger first campaign pick.

  4. 4

Play the new prologue before Restoration of Erathia

Ubisoft added a three-mission prelude that teaches camera, recruiting, and combat. The campaign walkthrough maps that prologue onto the unified saga, including Armageddon's Blade and The Shadow of Death.

  5. 5

Decide how you will fight other commanders

Online play supports up to eight players with matchmaking and simultaneous turns, and Hot Seat returns. Set expectations on the multiplayer guide before you promise a weekend match.

FAQ

Wiki FAQ

Quick answers for new commanders and returning veterans.

Is Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake out yet?

No. Ubisoft scheduled the remake for 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. Wishlist pages are live; a calendar day inside 2027 has not been confirmed. See the release window.

Is this the same game as Heroes III HD Edition or Olden Era?

No. The 2015 HD Edition is a resolution bump of the original 2D game without the expansions. Olden Era is a new entry with new factions. This remake rebuilds Heroes III plus both expansions in 3D. Compare them in the edition guide.

Which languages does this wiki cover?

This wiki is written in English, French, German, and Spanish. Steam lists twelve interface languages for the remake itself, including Italian. We skipped Simplified Chinese and Russian on purpose, then kept the four most-used remaining languages.

Will my old custom maps work?

Ubisoft says original map files can be imported and rebuilt in 3D, with an in-game hub plus map and campaign editors. Details and caveats are on the map editor page.

Where should a new player start?

Read the beginner guide, then how to play and the controls page. Veterans can jump to combat tactics and the hero skill tier list.

Does the remake include both expansions?

Yes. Armageddon's Blade and The Shadow of Death are in the day-one package with all nine factions, including Conflux. That is a major difference from the 2015 HD Edition.

Ready to return to Erathia?

Use the beginner guide to learn the loop, then pick a town from the faction overview and scan the faction tier list before the 2027 launch.
